Andrew runs his own specialist bromeliad hybridisation and propogation nursery and lectures in amenity horticulture at Unitec. He is a gardening consultant to the Consumers' Institute in Wellington and was elected a fellow of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture in 1999 (he now chairs the national executive as well). Andrew has written two specialist gardening books.
